Tomtom Openstreetmap
Hello Together! I'm activ in the Openstreetmap Projekt, and I think our projekts are related so near together that we can work together! My Idea is to run Openstreetmaps on the Tomtoms and edit them when they are not correct or detailed. It would be the Perfect Package, an Openfirmware on a Navigation Unit with Open Maps like Openstreetmap! All about the Project at http://www.openstreetmap.org
What you are thinking?
Greetings Sven
Hallo zusammen!
Was meint Ihr?
Ist das machbar und in eurem Sinne?
Gruß Sven
Hi,
Iam working on a peace of software (ttpixelmap) which does something like this. But it is only based on bitmaps! TomTom Open PixelMap uses the original 256-color tiles of Openstreetmaps. So, you have download the tiles which a small shellscript first and transfer it to your tomtom. Of course its free software and als graphic stuff is using libgd which I have crosscompiled for tomtom with support for jpg,png and truetype-stuff.

Somebody know the fact that the TomTom device SDK has been discontinued on February 19th. This is the message that we received fron tomtom when we discover the sdk' missing in the official web tomtom, the question is why and whic future about develpments? Maurizio vellano
Tomtom Win CE???
Actually it looks like somethign is going on. First thing, last December romours were heard about Microsoft byuing Tomtom that in turn led to TT shares price rise. Next 19 Feb 2007 TTGo SDK removed. And finaly TT lanched TT Go 710 in Taiwan based on Windows CE. Check out link: http://taiwan.cnet.com/cnetlife/reviews/0,2000080353,20030687,00.htm Also check www.tomtom.com.tw you will find an update programm called 710install.exe Pilotcom OZi
- While not being able to read Taiwanese myself, my guess is that the reference to WinCE in relation to the picture of the TomTom 710 unit is most likely a mistake. While TomTom do release a version of Navigator for WinCE/Mobile devices (for example the new iPaqs), I find it hard to believe that they would be deviating from the Linux OS currently on the rest of the 710's in the world --Paulw 15:46, 19 June 2007 (CEST)
- Note: The rumors cannot be true for all Tomtom Go 710 devices. At least I do have one running Linux, and I purchased that in February 2007. Hiran
maintech?
Since opentom.org is somehow affiliated with maintech.de and maintech claims on their website that they are hired by tomtom to help with linux drivers and stuff i guess that they should have a little more insight on this issue... Can you shed some light on the retreat of the SDK? I would love to see tomtom opening up the existing SDK under an OS Slicense (GPL!?!) instead of throwing it into the dustbin so that the community can continue to produce add-ons. After all, the (relative) openness of the TT was the reason I bought this product.
ONE v3 Localized (512mb flash)
Anyone have an idea how I could modify my ONE for more memory? It is rather limiting only to have 512mb of space and no SD card reader. Also if anyone needs the ttsystem from the ONE, let me know.
Has anyone already opened the case? Can we get a photograph of the inside? Maybe a SDcard is directly soldered to the PCB and one could change it. --Bello 11:32, 4 January 2008 (CET)
ONE v3 USB
I just got a ONE v3 for xmas. yay. From reading previous articles looks like the USB was not functional with those units. Since now it is functional I wonder, from a hardware standpoint, if it is possible to transfer GPS coordinates from TOMTOM to the PC as they arrive to TOMTOM. Of course the kernel will have to be recompiled, but my question is, does this USB port allow this. I am hardware challanged... An explanation would be great of how this works.

The same thing is also passing through my mind, but in a different way. Can the tomtom USB be used both as a SD card while there is a console, so that you can use the GPS logger (tomtom console) and download the data from the internal memory at the same time? In this way, all I need to do is create a program that catches the data from the tomtom at regular intervals, so I can re-use them for my program.

Tomtom development
Hi I'm looking for a marine application to run on my tomtom. Are you aware of any such application? If not what would be required to load different map data? Many thanks
